The joy of plants in my tiny house

Monstera Adansonii

One of the absolute delights of living in my tiny house has been to fill it up with house plants, and to my delight, I have found the plants are thriving.

A new fact to me but quite likely known to many people is that plants don’t really like the chlorine in city water. So in my case, it’s an added bonus that I live off tank water, and my plants are watered with rainwater. I am also lucky to have friends who happen to be indoor plant wizards and can give me some guidance on watering.

Callisia Repens

My mother definitely had a green thumb. Although I have tried to become a successful gardener at various times, it hasn’t really stuck with me. So when I moved into the tiny house, I was determined to channel my inner green thumb. Genetically I knew it had to be there somewhere.

Rhipsalis Baccifera, Philodendron Brasil, Philodendron Cordatum

I especially love the plants that sit on the extended shelf in the kitchen.

Nigella Lawson’s Chocolate Guinness Cake

The cake is a Guinness cake and, even though making my plants thrive is a new challenge, baking is something I already love to do.

Anthurium, Syngonium Neon, Ctanthe Setosa

The collection is certainly not complete. I have a shelf going up in the study and the bedroom so I can add more plants.

AND the subsequent exciting development is a new deck being built as I write this, which means I will need to move onto outdoor plants.
